The EPA-ED project has resulted in an Energy Performance Assessment method for existing dwellings that can easily be applied in all the European member states. In addition crucial implementation issues are addressed by a number of reports and brochures directed to policy makers. The method has been described and practical tools including a calculation model are available. Special attention has been paid to application strategies for various client typologies in the market.

The main characteristics:

• The EPA-ED method is a robust consultancy method for existing dwellings and appartment buildings in all European member states.
• It provides the necessary data for the Energy Performance Certificate according to the EPBD.
• It also provides additional energy saving advice tailored to customers, based on the actual use of the building.

• In line with the CEN-standards available and anticipated the expected CEN-standards.
• The structure of the method and the tools is flexible and enables adaptation to the local context and future CEN-standards easily.

The method has been tested successfully in six pilot projects in the four participating countries. Recommendations from these pilots have resulted in adjustment of the software.
